Faversham Town Council are hosting this lovely event in the new Town Hall in the market square.
Facebook event: https://www.facebook.com/events/255175658507712/
Come in and get warm and have some mulled wine and mince pies after a market mooch.
There will be poets, published, titled and acclaimed performing. All types of poetry: comic, romantic, sad, happy, literary, autobiographical, fiction...
Poems will be on all themes but also loosely linked to Christmas as the themes of Christmas are far reaching- love, light, dark, hope, travel, disbelief, belief, gifts, wisdom, food, sadness, joy, stars, weather, animals, families, refuge, no place to call home, kings, prophecy, dreams, displacement from home, taxes, government policy, pregnancy, birth, conflict, miracles,searching...
There will be musicians and singers, we may sing some carols ourselves!
There will be art installations and displays as we invite local people to exhibit work created in workshops previous to the event.
Sam Rapp, the Dyslexic Poet and I will run a workshop in the run up to this event using torn up words and text and collage materials. The art work will explore displacement of people, places and words.
Sam Rapp, will be headlining, as she launches her new book Rant. It will be a Christmas wRAPP.
Sam is one quarter of a poetry collective called Invicted and we hope this event will be a showcase for some of the other Invicted poets who have glorious books too.
Lots of poets and local authors will be performing / reading from their works. Those books fit beautifully into a stocking and you may be able to buy some.
It will be awesome, a lovely poetic peace in a busy day.
In the breaks you can talk to the authors and get your books signed.
There will be an open mic slot for the public to perform some poetry.
Afterwards you will be in time for all the churches in Faversham uniting to sing carols around the Christmas tree.
