Rest is needed
Rest is a gift
Rest restores

But this world is restless
It’s cities run all hours
The news continuously propose
This world’s woes
It even seems fashionable
To be constantly on one’s toes

But rest is the way to appreciate
We are truly blessed
Reflecting and looking back
Letting it all sink in
This experience is surely
One of life’s best

Equalled only by
And essential to
The art of living
Rest. In it’s presence or it’s abcence
To it its greatness
We do all attest

Unnatural in this race
Rest, an ironically challenging
Change of pace
Makes us sit with ourselves
It asks us to resist the urge
To stop, get up and put on our game face

Even if that’s the last person
We want to share the park bench with
Stillness and bliss await
For those that take the seat
Practicing the art of conscious
Joyous nothingness

Resting in that moment
And soaking
As life’s grime goes floating
Strains reverse to feel content
And life integrates with soul
Bricks and mortar of the glorious whole

Rest is needed
Rest is a gift
Rest restores

Sigh… “practicing the art of conscious, joyous nothingness” indeed…

A timely reminder, as exhaustion (mental, physical and emotional) threatens to overwhelm me… Thank you! 🙂
